Hinges
There are certain factors to consider when purchasing a hinge. Since the hinge has
moving parts and carries loads exerted both by the moving body and the external loads,
the hinge most of the time becomes the weakest point. Dynamic loads applied to the hinge
will cause it to fatigue over time causing sagging on the door or gate. Moreover, hinges
can only have a maximum thickness because of manufacturing limitations or space
restriction. Hinges must be specified properly with the right dimensions, material, and
mechanical properties fit to the application.
